Since 2013, a passionate group of adults from the Swiss canton of Valais decided to take action in response to environmental degradation, climate change, and biodiversity loss. We formed Project Nauyaca, with the goal of creating a more sustainable world for future generations.
Who we are?
Project Nauyaca is a Swiss association for international cooperation based in Sion, with a Mexican counterpart in Mexico City. As a member of Valais Solidaire, we are recognized as a non-profit organization.
Our mission is to empower those who wish to preserve the environment but lack access to relevant training.
We focus on soil regeneration, plastic waste processing, and the conservation of forest ecosystems.
Values such as respect, responsibility, collaboration, reciprocity, equality, and sensitivity guide our actions.
Challenges and oportunities
The urgency of a sustainable future for all is accelerating. We are entering the third decade of the 21st century, a key decade in the fight against climate change. Our vision goes beyond technological solutions; it involves an overhaul of the foundations of our civilization, from education to politics.
Our commitment to Mexico
Although we aspire to global influence, we focus our efforts on Mexico, a megadiverse country marked by high inequality and environmental threats. We’re tackling deforestation, the loss of fertile soil, and the plastic crisis, conscious of the sensitivity of Mexico’s youth to these challenges.
The renewal approach
The accelerated deterioration of the environment is linked, among other factors, to a loss of individual and societal awareness of humanity’s role in the planet’s natural processes. We tend not to see ourselves as complex natural beings linked to the life that surrounds us. Project Nauyaca fosters the sensitivity of its beneficiaries and collaborators through playful, reflective activities such as theater, conscious communication, addiction reduction, and games.
PROGRAMS IN ACTION
Selva Joven
Training in agroecology and ecosystem conservation for rural youth, with a focus on tropical and subtropical forests.
We integrate classroom and online learning, encouraging positive change processes in communities.
Nosotros Reciclamos
We transform plastic with a group of people in precarious situations, supported by industrial design students. We give materials a longer life and improve the lives of the beneficiaries. An integral approach that transforms the lives of those involved.
INNOVATIVE PROJECTS
Plantas Provechosas
Enhancing the value of traditional knowledge and the sustainable use of plants with active ingredients for the production of absolute extracts. We help keep traditional plant knowledge alive and develop healthy products for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, based on sustainable practices that preserve forests.
Biofábrica
Production of beneficial microorganisms to improve all types of crops with an agro-ecological and scientific approach.
We offer 4 products tested on our own crops with excellent results: Insectilibrio, Microrisas, Fugivida and Nitroamix.
